Timeout and other email problemsFixing the Timeout or Mail Server Not Responding error
1. Restart the computer
2.Surf the Internet. If you can't open a webpage, then the problem is
not with your email.
3. Disable any antivirus software (Norton, McAfee, Freedom).
4. Disable any firewall software (Zone Alarm, Black Ice, etc.).
5. Disconnect any servers, routers or hubs and try to send/receive
from a standalone computer.
In Outlook Express:
1. Open Outlook Express and click on "Tools" -> "Accounts".
2. Click on the "Mail" tab and select your account.
3. Click on "Properties" then click on the "Servers" tab.
4. Verify that your "Incoming mail(POP3) server" is 'pop.bellnet.ca'.
5. Click "Apply" then "OK", then click "Close".
6. Try receiving mail again.
In Netscape:
1. Open Netscape.
2. Click "Edit" -> "Preferences".
3. Click the plus sign beside "Mail and Newsgroup".
4. Click on "Mail Servers".
5. Click on "Edit".
6. Verify that "Server Type" is 'pop.bellnet.ca'.
7. Try receiving mail again.
Authentication Error - Email ClientFixing a Bad Password error
1. Retype your username without the @bellnet.ca (e.g. user1234).
2. Retype your 8 character alphanumeric password.
3. Delete the email account and recreate it. None of the email messages
will be deleted.
In Netscape:
1. Click on "Start" -> "Programs" -> "Netscape Communicator" ->
"Utilities".
2. Select "User Profile Manager" -> "New".
3. Follow the instructions on screen to create a new Profile.
4. All email messages and addresses are in the old profile.
Consult a technician to import them to the new profile.
In Outlook Express:
1. Select "Tools" -> "Accounts" and select the email address causing
the problem.
2. Click "Add" -> "Mail". Follow the instructions on screen to
recreate the account.
3. Reboot the computer. If the problem persists, create a new identity.
Creating a new identity in Outlook Express
1. Click "File" -> "Identities" -> "Add New".
2. All your email messages will be in the old profile, so do not delete it
unless you no longer want them.
Entourage X Email Settings - MACConfiguring your email settings for Entourage
1. Open Entourage.
2. On the "Tools menu", click "Accounts". Click the "Mail" tab, and then
click "New".
3. If the "Account Setup Assistant" appears, click "Configure account
manually".
4. On the "Account type" pop-up menu, click "POP".
5. Click "OK".
6. The "Edit Accounts" box should now pop up.
7. Enter any name to distinguish between different
email addresses that are set up in "Account Name:".
8. Enter your name or your company name in "Name", this will be the name the
recipients will see when they receive your emails.
9. Enter your email address, e.g. yourname@domainname.com in "Email Address".
10.Under "Receiving mail", enter your login ID for the email address in "Account ID".

12.Enter your password for the email address under "Password".
13.Click 'Save Password' if you wish Entourage to download emails
without asking you for the password.
14.Under "Sending Mail", type in smtp.bellnet.ca in "SMTP Server".

1. In Eudora, go to the "SPECIAL" menu and select "SETTINGS".

8. In "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" type 'smtp10.bellnet.ca'.

and click on the right arrow.
11.If you have more than 1 email address set up in Outlook Express,
type a name in "Account Name" to label this new account.
This is for identification on your computer and will not effect
your email settings.
12.Click "Finish".
13.Click on "Send & Receive" to receive your emails.
If you wish to modify these settings, click on "Tools" -> "Accounts" -> "Edit".
This will bring up all the server settings which can be modified.
